Wasn't "kaze to ki no uta" by Keiko Takemiya the first BL manga? That's what I always thought but I could be mistaken. This is really beautiful. The colours are very romantic and dreamy. I love the strong blue in the background it makes the characters 'jump' out more and creates a nice tension. Love it
No, but it's not Thomas no shinzou either. It was a short comic from Keiko Takemiya, "In the sunroom" written in 1970. "Thomas no shinzou" was 1972 and "Kaze to ki no uta" was 1976 ^^ Thank you for the comment also. I'm glad that you like it ^^
This very lovely fanart of such a beautiful story.
You're not too far off, nor are you alone in thinking that it is, but this is not the first BL manga. In Fantagraphics's publication Matt Thorn included a short essay about the history and significance this tale, in which they state, "[Keiko] Takemiya published Japan's first "boys love" shōjo manga, a short story titled "In the Sunroom".
